OK, dang near finished with my big Shellandrac Manor (just have to pop in and fix the individual rooms inside the "exterior" (my rooms are 3/16 inch thick pine structures, with the interior wall cardstock affixed to the sides. I'm thinking, "Can I get away with having the doors (leading into these rooms from the hallways) fixed (not cut out)?" When we game, we never actually move the figs "through" the doorways, just drop 'em on the other side. But, I feel quilty about it, like its a cheesy construction method

Really, cutting through these pine walls may cause warpage, weakness, and screw up the finish (I left unfinished doorways during building, to "wait and see". Please offer some thoughts, guys. Smokey

Oh yeah, don't worry about it. The majority of my builds have fixed doors, and I've never had a single comment about it.

On another note, could a Mod please move this to the Model Building Tips and Tricks forum?

I am working on my Shellendrak Mansion also. I am making my mansion permanent so my walls are all glued together for strength. I think I am going to leave my doors solid, for a bit of extra stability.

Make sure you post pics when it's done.

I wouldn't cut them out with your set up.

When I finally get around to starting my Shellendrak, I will likely only have the front door/ back patio doors operable.

And thats really just because I am a spaz.

It looks great Steve, but I can understand you not doing more than one like that. I made one of the phone booths for Mayhem a while back and it was hard enough without any "glass"... can't imagine actually trying to insert the "glass" as well.

Open doors on one side is a nice touch on it's own, and it'll be a great starting point for players to arrive... or possibly a new scenario for GOMC1. How about one where both gangs are hired for a hit on someone... who arrives by train in the middle of the board. You'd have to add random movement for the target, perhaps give him two movement actions per turn, but each player gets to use one of those movement actions... hmm... I might have to write this one up... thanks for the idea!

Hmm... the more I think about this, the more I like the idea. It could be a two or three player game. The target would, upon noticing the gangs... just after the train leaves the platform, make a dash for the phone on the oppostite side of the board, running the gauntlet between the two gangs. The gangs would need to make WtF checks each round or be so incensed by the other gang that they start blasting away at each other.

In the unlikely event that the target actually makes it to the phone, and spends one ready action... he calls in the judges... who start arriving each turn thereafter. The two gangs then have to try to escape.

Sounds like a hoot. I'll start writing it up after I get done with my current kitbash.
