I am going to try some drafting tape, I use it for securing board games to the table cloth for family nights, should work here too.

Did anyone ever make some kanelinx/underlinx templates as a kitbash? Pretty soon I'm going to print a bunch of ground tiles and I would like to use this method. But I cannot make the templates myself, I don't have any software that would give me the kind of precision I want for a template.

After having spent the last hour and a half making the templates for 1" and 1.5", I've submitted them as a bash.

What I've included is the 7"x7" and 7.5"x7.5" Linx template without any texture that can be cut out and used for making the base tiles. I've also included de-texturized tabs for both 1" and 1.5" Linx. Since these are so much more fiddly, you may want to cut them out and glue the sheet to the page, as you would the tabs using the traditional Linx method.

Heh, and I just received the response, apparently recent sets (including Hellworks) are now including the Linx templates. Sad thing is I even have Hellworks and didn't realize it was in there. So for those of you who are looking to do this technique, note that the latest sets give you the templates to do it.

Quick question. Could the Kanelinx be printed on plain paper and then the master tiles on cardstock? I'm looking at reducing costs (paper costs less than cardstock) as well as thinning the layers a bit.

Anyone see any reason why this wouldn't work?

That'll work fine, before I bought my first set I did some of the samples on plain paper, then I glued them to foamcore with no problem. But be careful to use as little glue as possible. I recommend a glue stick, I favor officedepot brand.

I normally use a thinner cardstock for ground tiles to save money. And for the kanelinx I use this $2 pack of unknown weight I got from a close out store, printed in B&W on draft quality.

most of the newer sets have Kanelinx blank pdf already for this very reason. I personally would print out on normal paper as it is a template and not a finished surface.

Thanks guys. I've 'acquired' a can of spray adhesive that I plan on using for my base pieces so this will be a good test. I don't want things peeling up during use.

It just seemed to me the KaneLinx idea would make the masterboard more flexible, more usable, and more easily stored. At the expense of more work, of course.

I prefer using the kanelinks to having to make a masterboard for every layout.
