Mayhem City II

O.K. Its been awhile but I've been in deep thought and came up with this idea in my head that has to come out and when I'm finished with it it will dwarf my old city big time. I got an idea four a layout 10' x 7' . The layout will be no-grid since I'm bashing up some transparency overlays for the grids. (1.5" - 1" )
This will be my biggest overall build that I've have done to date. But the only bad thing of it all is my camera!!!!! Its M.I.A. :cry:

The only downside of moving is losing and breaking items. I got a old camera but not to sure on how well it works its 7 years old, its a digital dinosaur!!! LOL Hopefully I can get one of my friends to lone me theirs for like a year or two but that's pushing it !!! Hmmmm.. I got a birthday coming up so maybe the birthday fairy will bring me one

What a minute birthday fairies are real right?!?!?!?!?

I'll keep you all updated on the progress and hopefully pics to with them as well! Later for now must get back to work :evil:

OK After a bunch of brain storming I finally thought of what this city will contain.

1. Rail Station -- Ground Lvl -- Second Story Lvl (for the upper trains :wink:

)
2. 2 Different Warehouses --1st 14"x28" - 2nd 21"x21" w/ Full interior
3. Central Park -- 28"x28"
4. 14 Different High Rises -- 10" to 48" in height some w/ interiors
5. Apartment Complex - 35"x21" w/ Full interior
6. Police Department -- 21"x14" w/ Full interior
7. Manor-House -- 21"x14" w/ Full interior
8. 2 Corner Stores -- 7"x7" w/ Full interior
9. 2 Gas Stations -- 7"x14" w/ Full interior
10. Gun-Shop 7"x7" w/ Full interior
11. 2 Fast-Food Restaurants --7'X7" w/ Full interior
12. Post Office -- 7"x7" 2 stories w/ Full interior
13. 2 Repair Shops(Garage) -- 7''x14'' w/ Full interior
14. 8 Different House's /Condos -- All different sizes.
15. 3 lane Highway :wink:

16. More Props then the eyes can handle (over 500+)
17. *MAYBE* Shipyard (Water Port :roll:

18. *MAYBE* Rail-yard
19. *MAYBE* Suspension Bridge
20. *MAYBE* Beach and Water front
21. *MAYBE* Baseball Field (Full Scale)
22. *MAYBE* Football Field (Full Scale)

Also as I stated before this will all be done in the Grid-less format and I will be printing out grids (1", 1.5")on transparency. This way I'll be able to play any game or format on it. (Including Hex!)

Any other ideas are greatly welcome and all will be considered in this my mega build of builds. This will be my poster child for all the local gaming stores and possible even out of state, since I live like 5 mins from Michigan as well :wink:

So I should be done with this by mid-summer. Another reason I am doing this is to help show case WWG's and what is truly possible with these products, All product that will be used in this build will be 100% WWG products.(Except the figures for the different types of Games, Which I plan on showing off once complete)

So if you live near the Toledo area and want to play on this monster let me know and maybe we can set-up a game. Would be really cool to get a bunch of the WWGers together and play a game or 2 or3 or4 or ............. You get my point :wink:

This will be my 3rd child and would love to show it off once done

Progress update

I got a bunch of the vehicles build, also one of the warehouse's are done, 1 Gas Station, and last but not least 4 High Rises. So for not being able to post pics but I'll be borrowing one this weekend :wink:

Sorry for the double post but was wondering how this sounds??? I was thinking of buildings some hills/mountains and have some of the streets go up them along with some buildings, kinda like San Francisco. I'll have to do some bashing to pull it off but hell I think I could do it :wink:

I think it would look really cool with some thing like that! So waht do you all think on this one??? Input is needed for this one and so are the ideas!!!!!!

I think a hilly/raised layout would be amazing. I've thrown the idea around a few times, but I'm really limited on storage space.

The slopes would need to either be shallow enough that minis can freely stand on them, or have ridges to hold minis on the slopes.

You'd also need sturdy support boxes to place under the raised elements... which of course could be swapped out when Mayhem Underground is released, and replaced with an underground train station and subway system...

Hmmm... I think a 45 degree angel would work with any mini. I'll give it a test try tonight when I get home from work LOL if you wanna call this work, I'm getting paid to sit here all day and do some work but its been done since Tue. so I get paid to surf the web and brain storm...... Heh, it's nice when you are ahead on work.

I'd love to see if that works out well, but I'm pretty sure 45 degree angle would be too steep for minis to balance on. The existing ramp to the rail bridge and the pedestrian overpass (if you don't use Aleph's steps kitbash) are about 45 degrees and minis always end up in a pile unless you add the supports.

Just something to consider

OK After a test of the angel I notice that the top heavy minis fell while all the others had no problems at all. So I ran another test at 40 degree angel and BAM! it works perfect. So if anyone was going to do something similar, anything over a 40 degree angel will need some sort of grips for the minis, that is unless someone comes out with a paper minis, say like a modern civilian set :roll:

But until then 40 degree is the way to go :wink:

****Progress update****

The first floor lay-out of the apartment complex is glued and drying as I type

As for the pics there will be some coming tonight or tomorrow!! I'm at the mercy of my friends availability to come over! (Has to get the OK from his Wife::cough::KEEPER::cough:::))

OK So far I have had three different people ( Shatteredragon, Sacretis, Pelthar)drop by and keep me focus on the task at hand! But the other sad fact is that I wasn't able to get a camera but found one of my old ones, REALLY OLD ONES!!!! Just need to find a 9volt battery, and then to test it

But here is what I've built in the past 4 hours:
7 Concrete based I-Beams
16 Black Crates (Mayhem Industrial)
All the walls(12) floors tiles(8) roof tiles(6) cut-out and ready for gluing!
Inside office walls as well
All the transpencecy

Also want to let everyone know that I'm stepping away for a couple of minutes for a cig/coffee/bathroom Break!!

BE BACK IN 15 MINS!!!

*****Progress Update*****

OK got yet another update for y'all !!
All walls are glued and drying w/windows
4 file cabinets, 2 desk, 4 chairs, T.V. , Couch, 2 load dock ramps, 2 forklifts, 16 pallets, 4 Rigs w/trailers, 3 Shelf units And last but not least 2 Roofs (1 is 14"x14", the other is 7"x14"

I'll be done with this by 12pm or 1pm my time and then I move on to the apartment complex still need 2nd and 3rd floors cut-out and built. Then after all that comes the props for the apartment complex :evil:

Now that's something I'm not looking forward too!!!!

So for not having pics the camera I found doesn't seem to take clear pics anymore. It is also 7 1/2 years old 2.0megapixel. So after 9pm tonight I get to shop online for a couple of cameras, did a say couple I mean 3!!!! LOL Now if I lose all of them I need help!!!!!!

Also another person has stopped by to say hello and that was Lord Abaddon of Wormwood. Now comes the hard part being sleep deprived like I am now!!! Been awake seen Friday at 6am :cry:

One word of warning for anyone willing to try this is.......... HAND CRAMPS!!!! DAMN DO THEY HURT!!!!! :lol:

Now back to slaving over this build, be back in about 5-6 hours with a update or you can stop by teamspeak and find out first hand on what is all done!!!
