One of my oldest World Works builds died today, the seams giving out on one side, allowing the Ruined Mill to fall into three pieces. I might be able tpo fix it, but I am well along on a replacement instead - I decided that I had gotten enough use out of the original to be worth building anew.

It survived two moves, a humid summer a few years ago that destroyed many models, being used in three summer programs, a two year Mordheim campaign, and numerous games at two game shops, it had been repaired, had a few bends, and some odd soda stains, but it lived well, giving more than three years of service before dying. I will rebuild it, and put it someplace safe - it has earned a rest. The wall came loose as I pulled it off the top of the refrigerator, planning out an rpg scenario that has been slowly percolating for the last few years.

The only surviving models older are a few Village Works structures, which are much simpler, and not pulled out as often.

How long do your models survive?

The Auld Grump, I am choked up about a three year old paper model coming apart... Jeez....

I've had little problems. I mean Little Problems, being about 3 feet tall. My daughters have done a Godzilla reenactment on a few.

I stored my chunky Dungeons at my sisters then at my mothers while I moved to the UK from the States and all three boxes of Chunky Dungeons and CWU has warped or been smashed.

However, when I take care of them I never have any problems.

I've only been using WW stuff for about a year now. All my models are still in good shape. The Inns one is sorta showing wear from some people scooting D&D minis on the floor sections.

My "little one" is 5'-7" now. Shes at the perfect age to start making some of the simple props. I had had her on Mayhem kitchen detail and Mars Station corner supports last night. Unfortunately, she's also at the perfect age to scowl and refuse to work once she gets bored


Matt, when the PD is done, how about the "Mayhem forced cardstock labor camp in 1/1 scale" ?

Test it first, (TEST it First,,,, with Smokey's "Brush teeth with Vasoline" luck, I don't want my secret method to cause disaster for y'all) but I spray my builds with matte overcoat and or scotchguard overcoat, and the stuff is impervious to moisture! Neat thing is, protect your downloads, and you have instant repair ability, less of course its a total structural failure.

Most of my older builds are still around. So 3 years for most of that. (Which would include CWU Builidings, Village Works and Arena Works. Plus tons of Interiors props).

Though my move last summer caused a few of the newer models to become unfastened at the glue seems (I was just discovering UHU Glue pens. And I think I was a little exuberant with its application. And I was (then) using a Laser Printer that put this glossy, water resistant coating on all the stock. So the UHU pen had a real tough time adhering to that).

Repaired the old Ruined Mill model as best I could, and put it on top of a shelf as a decoration - its gaming days are done.

I started on a new Ruined Mill, bigger this time around, using the blue sewer pieces from Gothic Realms and Missing Persons as the millrace, the blue sewer pool serves as a holding pond. I printed up more pieces than I expect to use, but having spares will be good, this is the biggest build I have made in a while, the footprint is double that of the old mill.

The outside is from IW: C&K, the interior from IW: P&I.

The millwheel is from Village Works, as is the Tower Top - used for venting.

The project began when I found this figure at the local games store.


I found my evil miller! (The hook is used to pull things out of the weir - a necessary task for a miller...)

My Caveworks, Villageworks and Interiors: Pubs and Inns have held up now for just over 3 years. My Villageworks stuff is the most used items I have, having seen use in the Wichlands this past weekend (the Russian equivalent in Flintloque Napoleonic Fantasy game), as well as the Catalucian planes (Spain in the same game), and have served as parts of villages for WW2 France and Germany in Battleground WW2 skirmish gaming. Pubs and Inns has served for Gaslight as a Virginia tavern during the American Civil War and an old west saloon Caveworks has been awaiting the Stargate By Gasight thing I have been tinkering with for several years. I printed out the Castles and Keeps, Skull Cove and Dungeonworks Gothic sets, but have never gotten around to doing anything with them yet. The Maiden and Castleworks Ultimate are somewhat printed out, while The Harbormaster and now the Manor await the completion of current projects, but I have plans for them for September's Advance The Colors convention, once again serving in Flintloque games. I figure some of these models will outlive me. I probably take a little better care of them...

A couple of my BOM buildings started to come apart at the convention last weekend... looks like the double-sided tape I used just dried up. Nothing major, just need a little fixing.

I have kids. They last about 2-3 months if that. Usually less. But then that's the ones I play with a lot.

The ones I don't use stay just fine cause it's all in a plstic tub.

mine last forever (unless they get stood on or crushed ) i print every thing out on an a4 sticker sheet, then stick that to a comic/magazine backing board, does'nt really work for small items though.
