"THE BIG SECRET PROJECT"

It still exists believe it or not. Simply put, I haven’t quite figured out how to produce it in mass. I could go the cardstock route but it would cheapen the concept somewhat. I've been very guarded with the concept and only my closest companions know what "it" is. Frankly I'm kind of waiting on the backing to come along and help me realize its full potential.

I am still of the opinion that it has the potential to "change the industry" or at least draw a lot more attention to WorldWorks. It has the same kind of market potential that heroclix had in the early days (in my opinion) but the concept isnt remotely related. The problem is that it needs heavy visibility and some capital behind it to market it properly.

Hey man, we believe in you... How much backing do you need? Maybe if it's within reason, we can all pony up some $$ to invest in the project with a payback being some kind of credit down the road on sets or something.

It'd be complicating treating it like a true 'investment' in your company(beengoing through that myself laterly.. it's complex!). But you could treat it as 'backing' even though it's technically just 'booked sales'.

Even if you only got 50% of what you need, you could take that 50% to an investor and backer and say 'hey lookee.. I got 50% of what I need just from my existing customers and they don't even know what "it" IS yet!"

I myself would bet $100 on your idea.. blind. Probably a lot more if I had some insight into it.

Well, perhaps some other production method might work. Before purchasing World Works (heck, before there was a World Works) I used to purchase the vacuum formed materials from Sci Fi supply. (A company that has now gone on to making models for science fiction movies.) Vacuum forming is both fast and cheap, being the same method used to create the blister packs that miniatures and other products come in.

Slip casting and related casting methods (who's names I do not recall off of the top of my head) is also fairly fast and cheap. Slip casting with clay means taking a plaster mold and pouring a clay/water mixture (called 'slip') into the mold, swishing it around for a while to coat the inside of the mold, pouring out the excess slip, repeating if needed, then opening the mold and baking the hollow clay figure.

A similar method is used with glass and soft plastic, where the molten glass or plastic is poured into the mold and swished around, cooling and adhering to the sides of the mold. The excess is again pored out and the mold opened revealing the hollow object inside. (This is the one I can't remember the name of.)

Resins and low temperature alloys of course can be cast in a mold as well, but given that these are well known, and widely available I am sure you have already considered/discarded those ideas.
