I just finished my 2nd dice tower.


I needed another one for when players use the same dice. I did it this time using CWC. This one can accomidate large numbers of dice without getting clogged. Its also a much simpler structure so it goes together much faster.

Now I just need to figure out something to put in front of the tower that looks appropriate that will catch the dice.

Yeah I can do a guide I suppose. I'll see how fast I can get it done. Today maybe, but if I build a new tower to take photos probably longer. You do mean for a perminate dice tower?

Because the one I did with the watch tower is the normal tower with removable inserts so I can have it as a normal tower if I need to. But thats really a waste of time. Its a lot simpler too make a perminate dice tower.

To function the dice tower can be very simple. Honestly a dice dropped from 9" high will be rolled pretty randomly usually, except maybe a d4. But for the tower at a min you do need an angled surface at the bottom to get the dice out the tower exit. Aside from that I just add random angled ramps to roll the dice.

You could also try just making a "lip" out of base texture that, for terrain purposes, is just ignored entirely.

I did something like that when I did the Dice Cliffs for Skull Cove:



(look at the "front" part of the tile)

I don't really know if that would work for me. The dice come out of the tower pretty fast and I don't know if a lip would be high enough to contian them. I may try it though.



On another note GIMP is giving me problems again. I'm trying to scale something up. Now the online tutorial said I simply enter the new width I want and GIMP would adjust the hieght automatically. However that isn't happening, the height isn't changing. And I don't know what the new height should be to enter it myself.

I did a size test and found that an opening 1 11/16" wide, the distance between the base supports, works pretty well even with more dice. So I spent several unproductive hours trying to kitbash the watch tower door so that it filled the space between the base supports completely. Then it finally hit me that even if I managed to make something that looked good I'm doing a guide not a kitbash.

So I started going through all my WW sets looking for a door that looked ok with the tower. I'm really not completely satisfied but I did find 2 I thought might do.


Both do have to be scaled up. But unlike the original tower door they look appropriate even when enlarged. Personally I favor the green metal doors, although I'm considering tweaking the color so its more drab. Both sets are from village works.

Any other ideas? Or should I go with one of these?

I like the green doors as well.

I would like to see bigger windows, but I imagine that complicates things. I really like what I can see of the original poster's tower. I really love his windows and doors.

I had also thought of the standard tile with the fence for the off shoot, not a bad idea.

In the last 21 hours I only took one 2 hour break from working on it, aside from stuff like grabbing something to eat. So I am somewhat concerned it might not make as much sense as I think it does.

I've got a question about dice.

A couple years ago someone gave me a bunch of dice, about 200 of them. Unfortunately I haven't any idea what there for. There all d8 but the numbers on the surface don't make any sense.

Almost all are 43, 5, 18, 8, 42, 15, 38, 7
But I have a couple 40, 4, 20, 34, 47, 17, 11, 31
Also a couple R/A, 39, 44, 33, 41, 24, 2, 19



Anyone know what they're for?
