Paul or Denny

Do you guys have an rough size count on First Light - is it going to be Skull Cove size, CWU size or more the size of some of the internal sets? I'm just trying to get an gerenal idea of what's to come.

Also where will it sit in the pricing side of things?

Lastly since it looks to be a stocking filler, will the store be up by then so we can fill your stockings?

As you might guess I'm every so slightly excilted about FL and can wait for the Dawn of an Era.

Heh, every year for the last three I have run an attack on Santa's Workshop game. (The best was the first year The person playing the Hill Giant for the bad guy waved at the person playying Santa, and yelled 'Santa!' Santa then asked if the gint would like to put the star on the tree. Things went downhill for the bad guys from then on. Year 2 the giant started on Santa's team.

The Auld Grump, I do think a Christmas kit for the castle might work... get some folks to buy it for Christmas decorations next year...

Woah, I was not expecting a vehicle to be the free prop. Nor was I expecting vehicles in the First Light set. A nice suprise to say the least.

I am liking the theme too. A trek-ish - sw feel to it. But uniquley Pauls stlye(there was no doubt of that. Even if I hadn't known he was doing the set).

Can't wait to see the (((whole))) set Paul. Because as soon as its G0LD, it will be on its way to my PC & printer... !!!!!!

I like the uses of the Bookmarks in the pdf of the shuttle, making it easier to move from the instructions to the model's pages.

Can this be done to CWU, or is it not a post production option?

If there are more ships in to set will the canopy's have printable options to put HUB's on it/them? I know the R-36 is a small build and the total canopy is tiny so the option of including a HUB print would be silly but if it was included in the total pack this would be very nice.

The X-wings carry upon 1 week of lifesupport and rations so this shuttle is very cool in detail - as a cargo tug does it use tractor beams?

Wow, I really wasn't expecting this. I think I was thinking in more of a bunker complex type direction, but if this is headed for a ship based design, as it seems to be now, I will be absolutely blown away. I'm thoroughly intrigued.

Well, I just built our little R-36, and I have to say, I'm really impressed.

It is a medium-complex build, and there are many little tabs, which can be a bit of a pain if you have fat fingers. Overall, though, it goes together very nicely, and looks schweeeet. It's a decent size, too: about 4" long, 3" wide, and 1.5" high. The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is the fact that the cockpit is too small to fit miniatures in there--not even those on 20mm square bases (Clix are most definitely NOT going to fit). Some of the funky Reaper based miniatures might fit in there, but I don't have any that I haven't placed on at least a 25mm square base. Oh well, I don't get to let my miniatures go for rides...

Also, I thought I'd share a little trick on it, as I now plan to do this on any other models that have canopies. For the interior "glass" I used a piece of one of my miniatures' blister packs (in this case, the back of a Warmachine blister). The size is just right, and it's good and sturdy. This also gives those freaks like me who keep most of their blisters around even after they've taken the minis out and painted them an excuse!

But! I noticed two problems with the instructions.

1. Page 8: The first sentence in the third box reads, "Set the fuselage aside to dry ans cut, fold and score the front wing." Two problems: ans should most likely be and, and the order of fold and score should be reversed. The full sentence should read: "Set the fuselage aside to dry and cut, score, and fold the front wing."

2. Page 11 and 12: The instructions for the seat repeat. Page 12 actually has a little more text in the final paragraph, so I'd say just axe page 11, since it's redundant.

Now, don't get me wrong; I'm not complaining that those errors are there. I'm just letting Paul and Denny know they're there before the product goes into final form. (PS, I am available for other proofreading, if desired...)

i printed out two of them: the first a normal quality and the second one a high quality...

Whiel both printouts looked perfectly well from normal viewing distance, the hi-res printout is certainly sharper and light refelctions are nicer.

I intended to use normal clear sheets - but Warmachine Boosters are better of course: another excuse to buy some more Man-O-Wars

I can life with the cockpit not large enough for most bses. I rather have it this way, then having oversized cockpits that are out of proportion to the resr (remember Old Vintage Star Wars Action Vehicles? Swollen head AT_AT?).

Most of the time the ships are just dressing that sits inside the hangar...
The opening canopy is real treat, though.

Hmmm, I would suspect that the week of life support is for use in the event of emergencies. Which we know never happen in RPGs...

More early Federation than either Republic or Empire. To my eyes at least. And more 'tug' than 'scout'. Will there be cargo cannisters to go with the li'l critter?

*EDIT* An empty Pringles container seems to be about the right size for a cargo cannister. The ship was pretty nice to put together, though I skipped the windshield this time through. (I am out of transparencies.) Scale wise it just means that the folks on the station eat a lot of crisps.

*EDIT 2* I am going to see if I can jury rig a few extra engine pods from the tug so the thrust appears more balanced. I may also see about aranging a 'pushme-pullyou' sort of affair.
