For those of you with A Maiden's 20, I want you to know...Joel and I have really pushed for Citizens on the writing end of things.

Every one of our 20 characters has a quote, a hook, a motivation...there's even an over-arching plot sketched out on the last page that can tie in most of these characters into a single series of events.

Even if you don't play the D20 system, there is more than enough here in the writing to fully realize WHO these citizens are, and what they're there for...far more than just street-dressing.

The set look great - it is what has been need for a very long time.
I truly hope that this set makes it Savage in a shorter time than the Maiden's 20... and that we can pick it up on the WWG store.

Nice to see this but for me (only mine opinion) I really feel that Mayhem could have used the population. Until the new city comes I really don't have the driving need for this. Once it hits it will be added to my cart.

Ah, Lord_Abbadon, there are still villages and castles to be populated (not to mention the Interiors of Castles and Pubs)...but your point is well taken. Mayhem has not been forgotten in this regard, though we can't promise any sort of timeframe.

Ummm in the promo material it states that there are "over 20 incredible high detail citizens" - great but Bob has said there are 20, so how many are there?

I must say I'm a tad leaning in CCotD's view about the Cleric. He reeks of bleached Christan archtype. I see Greek orthodox priests with more character here and there in the streets - and they have the Bling factor going for them. What I'm getting at is that the figure (which is great, lets get that out the way) seems to be a in garb of his vestments, nice but he is holding a scepter and wearing a miter (sp?) but there is nothing about him that screams "I'm a figure of the Cloth (any Cloth) here is a visible show of my Church's power (bring on the bling)" .


End of the day I think it was a little brave to put the Himmelveil name on a product that includes no terrain textures. Himmelveil now envokes images of "VillageWorks Plus" or as it was once being called "CityWorks". I think you might just cop a tiny bit of flack for that.

Love the work - would have liked to see the same number but shifted into different colours, so a person can fill a table without seeing flat repeated colour. But that might not be needed if there are more of these styles of packs on it way (in a short space of time). Also dead version of the above, I mean people die in these games... quite often more then whats really needed.

Oh like many of the products that are coming out of this Workshop I could quite easily skip the fuff. I'm more than happy to pay the price (whatever) but I will never use the fluff. Stats I might in a pinch but the whole story line is not for me. I guess I'm a tabletop gamer first these days and a RPGer second. I see this company adding value to product that really don't need it or even warrant it. Thats my view.

I agree that they do look nice, but also completely agree about the risk of invoking the name Himmelveil. The figures are nice, but anyone that thinks of Himmelveil wants fantastic fantasy buildings and cobblestone streets... the standees come later. I suspect the cobblestone on the standess bases is tied in with the mythical Streets of Himmelveil cobblestones. Ideally, I would have liked to see the streets set released, then some buidings, then people to populate it... with the people standing on the new streets.

The standees themselves all look very historical and not fantasy, if that makes sense. Nothing wrong with that, in fact, it's refreshing, but it might explain why the priest looks as he does. He definitely needs some sort of religious symbols, but I don't know what, without tying him to a specific religion. Perhaps this could be tied in with Arcraetia again and use the material there...

Lord A's suggestion of corpse versions for all the standees is a fantastic one... and is a must for civilian's, also known as cannon fodder. They are their to be killed by the players, or "accidently" killed by the thing the players are fighting

The fluff is a nice touch, but I'm not an RPGer these days, so I'm in the same camp as Lord A again, I think.

In summary, this to me is kinda like someone saying "You want a chocolate candy bar? Well have this glass of water for now." Not quite the same thing that I'm hungering for... but very nice in it's own way.

I'm gonna jump in just because it needs to be said;

I love it. I know you guys that are criticizing mean well, but you seem kinda discouraging for the designers of this AWESOME set of standees. I'm not saying you should shut up, but I really don't wanna kill these guys' creativity and discourage any further releases in the line. I agree that it would be great if you did a couple promo shots on some in production Himmelveil stuff, but I still think they liven up villageworks enough not to complain.

They're great figures no question. I love the townfolk. The nobles are more historical than I usually prefer but I won't hesitate to grab them for CWU.

It would be great to see some alternate color versions of the same figures though. I've got a big village and castleworks build so I'll need to print multiple copies and so I'm a little concerned about how many duplicats I'll have.

I would also be interested in dead versions.

These look ideal - there are a lot of monsters and hero figures around, but hardly any Joe Normal citizens - now my parties can grapple with the problem of collateral damage when they start blasting away in town

Only problem for me: having converted from d20 to Savage Worlds, I'm inclined to wait for the 'Savage' version.

Will there be a 'Savage' version?

ps. I take it as a good sign that these are released as 'Himmelveil' citizens.
I know there's no promises about Himmelveil, but at least it is still on the radar.

Why not release a single version with both D20 and SW stats etc? Is there a legal reason to not do that?
