This thread is for fully open discussion of the module. As such, I ask nicely that anyone who might be planning on playing through it go find another place to hang out.

Now, to answer an earlier question...there are two *big* 3D models in Missing Persons of creatures. One is a Huge (advanced) Iron Golem. The other is a Gray Render.

But there's some other flat standee-style creatures that are large as well. A pair of Otyughs, and an Ochre Jelly, which are also worthy of attention even though they're "flat".




Anothere question was asked...why the low CR skeletons and zombies? Mostly, it's a combination of ambiance and to pick away at the PCs (nickel and dime them). Ferinast loves his torments, so he doesn't want to crush them all at once...he wants to bleed them one cut at a time.

So that's what they're doing there.

Makes them overconfident, and waste a lot of resources (healing, etc) on the way in without thinking they'll be overwhelmed at every step... until it's too late!

Any DM with nefarious multi-session schemes that does NOT use this tactic should be summarily flogged...
AND castigated by the resident rules lawyer, whose brilliant solutions should be encouraged... (OHHH, THAT'S RIGHT!!!, MY BAD...) before big boss #1 puts the bite (literally, or figuratively) on the party, shutting up said lawyer, and creating a tizzy whilst said lawyer's character bleeds from a well-rolled missing (person) limb... (or two)...

Shatteredragon mentioned the Iron Golem looks like a fiddly model to build. I just wanted to say the Golem is pretty easy to assemble. I've built four or five of them through the entire development process and never found any problem.

It's the Grey Render that can be a little more complicated, because of It's 3d torso. With a little patience and the proper glue, you shouldn't have any problems either.

Mostly, they both just take some time and some patience. Lots of parts, and some options, but just keep plowing away at them and they'll come together just fine.


If any of the DMs out there want the full breakdown of standees, here's what's inside:

All 8 pre-gen PCs of course (Human barbarian, Half-Elf bard, Dwarven fighter, Elven Wizard, Human Cleric, Human Monk, Elven Ranger and Halfling Sorceress). The ranger has a hawk companion, and the sorceress a black cat familiar.

A city guardsman, and guard captain.

The duke, his captain-general, and his clerical advisor.

A dark priest, and a Kyton

A thieves' guild full of different colorful personalities (6 standees in all)

Chokers, Xill, rat swarms, and a crazy old guy who's been in the sewers too long.

An ochre jelly "flat" standee, and a pair of Otyugh, complete with a "submerged in sewage" flat token.

Skeletons, Zombies, dark priest minions, and a hellhound.

And of course...the grey render and the advanced iron golem as fully 3D models.

How strong is the connection to the first modul something below?

The first modul ended with a escaping villain.
Has missing persons the same villain? Is there a other connection to
the magic item from something below?

I ask because I think about maybe playing something below this summer (savaged) and would know more about this villain because there isnt much about the grand scheme of the villain.

BTW: Something below was a little bit dissapointing because of the very short adventure. Only 14 pages (12 rooms) are the True Adventure text, the rest are premade SCs, stat blocks and instructions.
But I like it for the new cave work pieces.

Is missing persons similiar or do it have more pages/rooms?

The main connnection between Missing Persons and Something Below is in the initial premise. The recommendation letter from Wilfred Davis becomes an excuse to introduce the PCs to the Duke to launch the events of Missing Persons.

Neither the escaping villain, nor his item, bear any connection to the second module. For that matter, the entire adventure seems otherwise unrelated. It is the third (under production) module that will actually explain some of the relationships and what ties these seemingly unrelated events together.

For what it's worth...Something Below is aimed at 3-4th level PCs, Missing Persons at 5-6th level PCs. A few wilderness encounters en-route to Kiermont wouldn't be amiss.


And as for the overall adventure size and scope, I think you'll be well satisfied with Missing Persons. Aside from an "investegate and research" portion of the module and a series of optional, bonus encounters in the city proper (more useful if you have some variety of city-based set to place the encounters in), the adventure consists of 26 pages of encounter/adventure text (plus 6 more pages to hold the monster stat appendix) and a total of 25 encounter areas over two separate major sections of the adventure. A much broader area is covered, but a new method of building the encounter sites is also introduced that will mean less overall building to create all of the scenes (the Modular Sewer System).

Wow!!!!

I just picked this up, and I have to say great adventure. Not to knock the other two modules which are both good, but this one is by far my favorate. The combination of the great modular sewer tiles and the great use of Kyton/a logical background story pushes this item over the top for me.

Very nice job here Andorax. I'm really looking forward to your next module in this line.

Thanks for the compliments, ScrubKai. I know this was a fun one to put together, and I'm glad that you find it telling an interesting tale.

I can't say when the third module will be coming out (there's a lot of other issues on my plate at the moment), but it's neither forgotten nor completley stalled...work continues on it alongside everything else.

Definitely my favorite so far - lots of good stuff, and a decent mystery as the core premise. The Sewer Expansion alone was worth the price of admission. It will take a bit of work to fit it into The Iron Kingdoms, but not too much, mostly critter substitution. (Spoiler Follows) The Devils & Demons of the SRD do not exist in the Iron Kingdoms, nor is there a directly appropriate replacement for the Chain Devil. This and the disparate religions are the hardest points, the closest I can come is a corrupted priest of Menoth. The problem there is that the party already distrusts him... and with good reason. Otherwise this fits rather well in the City of Corvis.

I did not build the Gray Render, but I did build the parts for the Iron Golem, then scattered his pieces around a Golem Lab for a Christmas setup I am working on. (I am likely not doing my 'Attack on Santa's Workshop' this year, I forgot all about it last year. ) I think I like him as scattered parts, it adds a certain something to the lab.
