Please use this thread to help me better define what you would like to see evolve out of this genre of model set. You are more than welcome to start your own threads in this topic as well if you have an idea that deserves its own spot

I may not answer all of the posts in this section but trust me...Im watching it very closely.

Personally, I play Shadowrun so I'd love to see gritty, dirty buildings with a few ultra-clean arcologies and computer lab/clean room type areas.

Likewise.

I'd also like to see some decent cars (ground and air, functional and blowed-upped).

Oh, and how about some damage markers, y'know, like craters or flames, that could be dropped where the grenades go off and whatnot. 2-D would be fine, but a good 3-D fire would be cool. Destruction tiles could also find a place in fantasy game, of course, especially if they were done sort of genre-less (no tech bits or monster limbs, for instance).

I'm writing up a modern day horror-conspiracy setting for Savage Worlds, so I modern day city set would be perfect.  I guess what would be on my wish list for this would be (I defined this in the general requests forum a while back):

- roadway tilesets
- park tilesets
- pedestrian walkways
- tenement buildings
- convenience stores
- multi-level office buildings
- construction sites
- "urban decay" ruins
- walkways
- fire escapes
- ladders
- newspaper stands
- pop machine
- steet lamp
- park bench
- phone booth
- dumpster
- hot dog vendor
- advertisment billboards
- street signs
- cars and trucks

I think this would do well for Cyberpunk, Shadowrun and Superhero game, Spycraft, Modern Cthulhu/Delta Green, d20 Modern, any Zombie survival horror game, etc.

Also apartment complexes and regular houses would be good. It's amazing how often things as obvious as residential areas where people live are passed by.....it would be great to be able to recreate the local neighborhood where your PCs etc live.

Modular sections for shopping malls and department stores etc would also look really good. Parking lot tiles, dumpsters etc. Restaurants and fast food joints. Damn, this one has a lot of potential!

Vehicles - civilian, military, government, and business, large and small - very tough to make everyone happy, too many options and colors to cover - someone will always want something that's not there - is there any way to make a .pdf so the viewer can change the colors but not the image?

I am also a Shadowrun fan (and enjoy playing Vampire) and would love to see any of the above available to add flavor to settings.
Roads and walls, rooms and halls I can draw and imagine, it's the 'stuff' and dressing I'd like to see most.

oh yeah... and ATM's. Free standing, against the wall, and drive-thru.

I'd like to see some modern scenery for spy-related things.  (if these have come up Im sorry).  Most of my games have involved infilltration into evil mastermind lairs or office buildings.  things like Metal Detectors, security desks etc.  Think Nakatomi Plaza from Die Hard.   Elevators, air-ducts, unfinished parts, Windoes that have veiws of the city outside.  Large and small modern art sculptures and paintings.  Cubicles, desks, servers, desktop computers, water fountains, coffee stations.  Man, the possibilities for office building interiors could be its own package.

Armorcast has a very cool concept for their resin buildings...a modular building system for big high-rise sorts of buildings...downtown skyscraper sorts of things.

I would absolutely adore something along these lines, especially if it came with some sort of hints and tips for how to practically make it work.

VillageWorks is great for 2-3 story buildings, but if you want a downtown area with 20+, it's going to be very hard to get cardstock alone to cut it.



Also, in your "hints and tips" section, some general information/demographics about the size of a typical city block, width of a typical city street, and so forth so that realistic settings can be produced.

If you don't get it already, I highly recommend Dungeon magazine, Denny.  They have, in the Polyhedron section, a "Global Positioning" article that provides a 5' square map of a modern location (City Bank, Police Station...this month's was a Bowling Alley).  Some serious potential inspiration here.

Thanks for the inspiration I've got "BIG" plans for the modern sets and keeping them modular and to a relatively realistic scale are both huge priorities.

As long as theres Cities for me and my friends to kick ass in, lifes all good. We just like modern for the buildings and stuff. We play alot of Robotech and Battletech, and they are key for our city battles. But, cool different city areas like Virtual On's Dorkas Stage are something you might want to look into. Or looking at the night scene of Tokyo, because ive always wanted to fight in the tokyo at night time.

Hi: adding to my wish list:

--Primitive/ Geurilla Underground complex (VC tunnels, Afghanii   caves, etc.)

--Low tech city streets (3rd world countries)

--trench systems

New here, and kind of off track a little, but I like to war game especially eastern front ww2.

I would like to see some Eastern european type buildings and churches.

An historical line would be nice.  

I second the wish for some Shadowrun-appropriate buildings, though I don't know if that should go in the sci-fi section instead.  Some really gritty, cyberpunky, Bladerunner-esque buildings and vehicles and such would be great.

i had a feeling world works was going to do modern settings. i cant wait. for months ive been running my d20 modern campaign and using foamboard, colored pencils and drawing out malls, houses, parks and other modern areas. using world works for D&D my friends have been impressed with the artwork. im sure that will carry over to modern.

I would very much like to see WWII stuff, like Luthyr said. Vehicles would be great, but I need buildings and scenery. Keep up the great work!

My main request would be for all of the niffty modern things inside of buildings like the modern fruniture, couchs, vending machines, computer stations, lab benchs, ice machines, trash dumpsters, rubbish bins, newspapre kiosks, atm machines, the stuff that is for everyday life, but we never see in the market today.  Everything is for D&D fantsy, very little for modern or sci fi.

Daddy come full circle and has to run some Champions real soon. Be nice to get some lamposts and other things for the Bricks to throw around the battlefield (cars, phonebooths, too).  Really, any modern and sci-fi setting will do.  Some modular 'skyscrapers' so I can simulate a Superman 2 multiheight super-versus super.  How about a crashed rocket ship? Or a big circular 'tradional" flying aucer landed?  Park props--lanscape tiles for the park and some trees, a statue, fountain, benches.

Not sure if this is Modern or Sci-Fi, but stuff like the old Necromunda buildings would be cool: grungy multi-level underworks with bridges and catwalks.  Plenty of openings for taking shots and diving for cover.

Here's what I'd like to see. It's great that you take your clients feedback to creating your projects.


1. Plenty of 1.5" buildings, and objects (fire hydrants, light posts, bushes, trees. These are great after spending so much money on the dial based miniatures (clix).

2. Ability to expand/shrink buildings by adding/taking away pieces.

3. Fire Escapes/ Outdoor Stairs on buildings (If they would logically have them). Elevators might be good in mall based games, but that would definitely be a rough task to beat out.

4. Plenty of different signs, and "Store Fronts". You wouldn't believe how much spice that does to the average "old, and boring" building.

5. More obstacles. Dumpsters, Garbage Cans, Giant City Flower Pots, and Fountains. These also add an immense amount of fun to modern based settings.

on the wotc message board, GMs have been talking about lab crawls(modern version of a dungeon) and im thinking about doing one myself. is that a upcoming set?

Something like castles&Keep for modern buildings.
Interior of buildings
especially a mall, a office, a storage hall and a apartment interior would be cool. And it would cover most situation except a old fabrik.

my suggestion is to get buildings like those in the computer game Freedom Force.  And modular road/pavement tiles.  That'll do me  nicely.
