Just a quick note. We are regrouping after the chaos of the holidays. There are still a couple days that will throw us for a loop, my birthday on the 30th and New Years eve of course. I can't expect Paul to work through his hangover day

Over the next few days I'll also be tackling the on-line stores implementation. I'm not sure how smoothly things will go at this point time wise but it is being finalized.

Thankfully I have never had a hangover... (I am the world's shortest hitter, and always remember to drink plenty of water). which isn't hard since my drink of choice is a cider shandy. (Drink of the true wimp, 1 part ginger beer to one part hard cider. But my, they are tasty.) Sadly the only other drinks really I like the taste of are bourbons and whiskeys... a few of those and it is nappy time. (Not pass out, just start yawning and nodding... sad really.)

The Auld Grump, a disgrace to his Irish heritage... (Though for what it is worth Ireland actually has the lowest per capita of alcohol consumption in Europe - average lifespan of a pint is something like half an hour... Not only do the Irish nurse their drinks, they raise them up through childhood, then send them off to a good college.)

So in two days how old will the Master be? Does it suck having Christmas and your birthday with in the same week? Whats on the wich list

Was the question about lights, consoles, and transparencies ever answered? I couldn't find it on a quick glance at the topic. (just to make sure Abbadon was right... this might not have been a First Light topic after all...)

*EDIT* And another use for First Light... Submarines. Imagine a Call of Cthulhu game played only by the lights inside the ship, recordings of *pings* and metallic creaking, as the sub passes far too close to a sunken city... and a memory of a dream lost in waking, of a name... Dagon...

I've got the Doom boardgame, played it twice, and can comment on how much kit bashing will be needed to make First Light work. The tiles included with Doom use 1 inch squares, corridor tiles are 2 wide and come in 3 and 6 squares long.

Rooms and alcoves are the tricky part. There are only 4 sizes of rooms, but the included maps often expand the rooms with 1x2 squares, making them quite irregular. You might end up having to make your own maps to use First Light.

As for the game. It is very, very good. Ammo is far too scarce, and the difficulty adjustment mods due out next week will likely be a requirement for most. The game itself has very clean and simple systems, and with enough twists involving event cards, weapon and enemy types to make it very like an advanced Space Crusade, or more properly, an advanced Mutant Chronicles.

The only other problem with First Light might be the Cyberdemons. The base covers 4 squares, but the figure is a massive, hulking hunk of plastic that might not agree well with tall vertical walls. I'm kind of afraid to put it back in the box with the other minis because I fear it may eat them.

Condider this baby shoved out the door. Denny is applying the final polish, he's good at that and my head hurts .

The deck plates rattle under your boots as you enter the bridge. Winking screens and purring readouts monitor a thousand things. Smells of oil, coolant and a faint tang of sweat. Swinging yourself into the vacant pilot's chair, you dial down the lights and huds and gaze outwards.

At nothing.

At everything.

Hard points of starlight, haunted wisps of dust and gas, pregnant crescents of dead moons, electric fire dancing around the poles of a gas giant. You close your eyes and listen to the faint hiss of air scrubbers, the creak of heated metal, a distant hum from the reactor.

Sounds of home.
