scary enemies are great... but
run-of-the mill enemies are actually better for cardstock in my opinion...

see, i don't mind painting miniatures for the Big Bad, and my players usually buy minis specifically for their characters so it all looks good.

what cardstock minis are great for is the droves of skeletons that get wiped out by 2 fireballs and Great Cleave
before the party reaches the immaculate evil overlord-type badguy

while i can get decent goombas by mass-producing the same skeleton from 'something below', it would be nice to see a goomba selection...
orc with axe, orc with club, orc with choppa.. .....

and of course do the same thing for kobolds, skeletons, thugs, and other various minion-types. it would be somewhat easy, you would only need to make a a few for each type (a few differant poses, possibly a sergent)

I'm glad that WWG is on it! I am hoping that any set of mass type monsters will be very easy to mass produce; basically cut out, fold over, glue and voila, ready to go.
I would even prefer a figure that would give you the option to just cut a rectangle shape rather than having to cut the outline.
I want people to notice the exceptional artwork you guys do, not my questionable modeling skills.

Of course that image is only an example, but it took all of 5 minutes and would be quicker once you have the standee template made.

In gimp the wand selects contigous regions and although it does seem to select parts of the background, using it to clip all of it promises to be both time consumming and highly frustrating.

I haven't used Gimp before, but can you open PSDs and retain the layers? I would be willing to clean some backgrounds up for you, if that is what you are needing.
