OK, so yesterday I posted some of my source images and ideas for building the Aztec-themed HeroClix board

Here we have one of the buildings, three of the workman huts, the Hindering terrain markers, some folige blocks that will be cut up and added to the Hindering terrain markers, the Blocking terrain marker, and one of the stelae that will be part of the blocking terrain. I have one more workman hut, one more stone building, and three more stelae to build, then I need to start glueing the stuff down to the board.

The buildings are foamcore walls with my printed images glued down like wallpaper. I am very hapy with the stone buildings, but the workman huts look like little stockades because they do not have roofs. I had originally built templates to do the workman huts as miniature stone structures thematically linked to the bigger ones, but after a prototype, I decdied I did not like them too much. Such is the life of an artist, I suppose.



The board itself was straighforward to build, except for the stone floors where the stone buildings will be. Those I had to develop myself in Photoshop using a sandstone tile sample image I swiped online somewhere. I sed it to build a tiled-floor image of the proper size, and then glued them into place as I glued down the other tiles as well:



I would estimate I am about 2/3 finished with this in terms of work time, amybe more.

The buildings are looking good. Are they done using straight prints of photos? Or are they painted textures?

I took the prints of the photos and touched them up, removing broken masonry and doorways. This allowed me to cut the doorways where I needed them to match the map I based this board upon.

This is a great idea, and I can't wait to see the completed map! Awesome!
