Paul, you did a heck of a job! I was reading through the instructions to see how to put it all together. Trouble was, the different bays of the ship look so real and lived in that I kept getting distracted by story ideas about all the trouble I can get my PCs into. You've really lived up to the standard set by the Maiden. Probably won't be posting too much more today, I'll be too busy building.

I've got my copy downloaded and have been doing a thorough inspection.


WAY NICE


On first blush, the instructions look like they are some of the best yet. The details are fantastic, the use of transparencies look pretty slick, and it seems that it could be pretty modular. I know from my first read through I plan on building and mounting each room/corridor/section individually, and then play mix and match.


Can't wait to go home and do some printing tonight. My brain is all abuzz on how best to use this, besides of course, just building it to have it (which I will do). Small ship? Big ship? Space station? Underground base? Alpha Complex? The possibilities are endless.


The only thing missing? Stairs or a turbo lift (at least, I didn't see them - but in the sheer volume of elements, I may have missed them).

I am trying to sketch out a few ideas for ships... figure out what i want to put together, then print them out and get to work on them...

Just need to figure out the "deckplans" and how to best accomplish them with the different rooms, corridors etc.

I too am struggling with how to lay out a deck plan. My ultimate goal is to have a space hulk that will cover my kitchen table (36" x 60"). I think that I have the first sectino figured out. It will be 2 sets of 3 cargo bays off a corridor. I may put at an airlock or two in there as well. I put together a new corridor piece with a cargo bay door on each side and on one of the end pieces. I really appreciate that Denny doesn't write protect the PDFs. It saves a lot of time when photoshop-bashing new pieces together.

Did anyone else notice the page of crew fold-ups?

not sure if this should go here or another thread but here it goes ... First off let me say the set looks killer you guys have out done your selfs. i am looking at the set and trying to figure out a way to make a design set of tiles to use in dungeon crafter to make layout but am stimied for now. If anyone else has some good suggestions i am all ears for layout design. i got a rough deminsion of rooms (i.e. 6X6 door in 1,3 ect ect) but dont feel very handy with it. i would even be willing to hear some design ideas form the Admrils them selfs ... blast away

I bought the set shortly after it became available - sometimes it nice to be on German time

What I really liked:

The artwork, the nice little touch-ups (like the posters, the transparencies or the bunks).

Very high points for the outer hull - it is so much nicer to have the opprtunity to make the ship look right from the outside.

The easy and time-safing building... no I am not afraid to build something more complex , but the folding-box rooms do the trick and are easy. Two thumbs up.

What I would have wanted to see:


Okay... there will be an expansion, but there are some things that would have been useful now:


I can understand why the ship has been designed as a single deck transport, but IMHO some way to adress deck-to-deck interface would have been nice... but that will come ceratinly.

To underline the modular character of the set, it would have been nice to have a different cockpit bridge design. That would have done a long way to give different layouts a new "signature look"...

Same goes for the engines... some sort of engine/thruster pods would come in handy to give the baby a bit of hot-rod feeling

While the set itself is modular - although somebody wrote a rather wrong comment on RPGNow! that accused the set of being not modular - it lacks a bit of variety pieces...

That said, I really love the set and consider it a large step in the right direction.

I should mentionthe instructions, too. Those are very heplful and even nice to look at.

You really should do some stats for the ships from the Bringing-it-all-together guide for the major system...
