I'm glad you all like what you see.

Well here is the finished first floor in it's complete unfurnished entirety.







Things look a little bare, but the furniture will come later. Now I need to get the second floor done.

I've thought about doing slightly varied terrain height before and the best idea I could come up with is to use thick foamboard, the pink stuff, instead of normal foamcore. You could add, for example, a sheet of 2" thick foam board (or two sheets of 1" thick, depending what you can find, and carve out the area you want as a basement... then, add normal foamcore beneath it to give the basement a sturdy base.

I haven't actually done it yet... but it sounds like it'd work well.

Ok I am back to work on this project. Summer managed to go by in the blink of an eye and I didn't seem to get much done on anything. Anyhow, the manor is being worked on again and nearing completion. The second level is pretty much finished and the roof/attic is underway. I wanted to get some use out of my roof instead of it just being a separate piece to take off and put to the side. So I decided to build an attic.

Below is the attic floor layout. There may be some final changes to the front as I am not 100% sure how I want the font of the manor to look. The black areas inside the grey border are where the roof shingle pieces will go. It will make more sense once you see the build.



I also wanted to make a room in the attic that looks like something horribly has gone on in there. So I took one of the regular floors and made it all gross. Below is a detailed shot of the floor.

Ok the exterior of the manor is actually finished. Now it is just fleshing out the interior all the way. I haven't had time to take any photos of the final look but here are a couple more "in progress" photos.

This photo shows the attic rooms and how I attached the roof. You also can see how I reused the alternate wood exteriors from Return To Shellendrak Manor for the interior walls of the "disgusting" room.

I cant wait to see it finish... looks really fantastic. Specially the way you do the spaces to the roof.

Its coming along great. The filthy room is cool. The revisited walls almost look like the lathe base of the old plaster walls. I'm interested to see how the rest of the roof fits together.

I think I may finally start a new Shellendrak build along these lines.
