I know it may be weeks before we actually get some official developer scenarios on this board, but I would like to make a place-setter thread for my future contributions to Wormhole.

My ideas for space games alway move in direction of background stories and theme. I'm all about the theme and the fluff that drives games to be independent from each other. My playtesting experiences allowed me to interact with designers on themes and story. I always meet other playtesters who have the same goals and ideas. If there is a suggestion by an outside observer or group while we're playtesting that would contribute and help future designs, I always pass them forward.

When it came to Wormhole, I decided to get onboard not only to help put together a great space combat game, but to add theme and background to the overall experience. So I worked on/I'm working on a lot of User-made material.

One of the best ways to convey theme to a tactical space combat game is through the scenarios. Hopefully, my contributions will provide some ideas that will inspire development in this direction.

Just to give you an idea on what I mean by "User Scenarios":

- I made a few single scenarios that pit Fleets against each other while having secondary, secret goals for players to accomplish. Or merely toe-to-toe, pound-each-other-to-pieces scenarios. Or single scenarios that introduce random elements, like battlefields constructed by dice rolls and three tables. (Small scale)

- Presently, I have a finished Story Mode Campaign that I'm presently fine-tuning for use by other players. It involves a score-keeping method that has an effect on each scenario as it plays forward. Each scenario is a chapter to the story. The final conclusion to the story depends on the final tally accrued/saved over the course of the game. Hopefully, that story will give the players some insight into how the conflict affects various groups in the Sathrican empire. (Moderate scale)

- I am also working on a large Royalist/Separatist civil war campaign in the design stage. It works on a larger scale, before the final days before the Pariyan Outburst arrives and the Exile begins! (Epic scale)

Note all those are awaiting official green lights from Andorax and Denny because it actually affects the overall background story of the series. Plus, I value Andorax's input on these types of things, because he's really good at presentation and structure.

I encourage other people to design interesting scenarios with various point settings and using models from both the Wormhole Core Set and Uncharted Space. The more the merrier. I personally want to try other people's ideas. It may also give the developers ideas for future expansions and your input is always valuable in the long run.

If anyone wants to work with me on any future ideas - especially developing scenarios to use particular mods, let me know as well. Group projects are fun, as well.

My story comes way before there were any sides in a conflict. It's a story of the Sathricans meeting what is possibly the worst thing imaginable to them in the universe.

That's a good point, though. I'd like to point out that neither side in the civil war is actually a good guy or a bad guy. There is a definite evil entity, but it's not a Sathrican. The Sathrican factions just have different opinions about what should be done to save the race, and who should be in charge of deciding these kinds of issues. The Royalist faction has existed for a long time without people complaining. They aren't "evil" like the SW Empire, and the Separatists aren't exactly "right" in the sense of the Rebellion.

It's a lot more complicated than that, and I hope my small Minos Campaign will show you some depth and how corruption actually eats away at both sides from the more self-centered people in control.
