Two turrets, the Escape Pods and the Tub (plus mounting), and I'm all done. For the first rev, I thought I'd do the stock model, all assembled and mounted together.

The one custom modification I'm doing is detachable Cargo Bays. Pall very thoughtfully provided the pieces to do that, and the only funky thing about that is the double doors. I created door slots in both the ship and the Cargo Bay, so when its attached, you have two sets of doors. I figure this is actually a reality on a detachable setup like that, so that when the Cargo Bay is sitting on a dock it can be sealed, and if (for some reason) the Cargo Bays had to be ejected ("even I get boarded sometimes") the ship would still have its own door.

So far, this has been a really easy build. I think the most complicated (fiddly) piece was the reactor. Everything else has been a snap. I'll try to upload some pictures tonight.

Looking forward to seeing it. Im just about done with my first VW too. Cant wait to get my hands on CWU to add-on to some things.

Yup, pretty much in the same boat you are in Robby, got to do the Turrets and slap it on to Foam Core.

I plan on doing the Turrets tonight, didn't get a chance to get to it over the weekend.

That looks pretty similar, yess - although that looks like one of the custom builds. I like the reactors on both sides - that was one thing I found strange. Why would you have the cargo bays next to - and behind - the reactors. Keeps your cargo warm, I guess.


I got the Tub and one Turret done last night, plus a few other little things (extra doors, etc). Whew. For such a small piece, that Turret took a LOOOOOONG time, especially with edging and all. Looks pretty good though, and a lot better than it looks in pictures.

One more Turret and the Escape Pod and I'm done with the stock build, though. I won't have any time tonight, but probably Tuesday, and I'll try to post pictures then.

Yup it is a Custom, the Tallon, i plan on doing a BIG custom of my own, and wanted some practice, and well practice small to do big.
itThink the custom is going to be like 22 inches long, and close to 14 wide, but i had a snafu with the Reactors in the desing pahse, i forgot about the corridor, so i may need to to a minor redesign to get the length a tad shorter. in theory the ship is 41 meters, 22 can do but an extra 3 inches will put it at 6 m longer than it should be... i may just live with it. but if i can fiddle with it a bit i will.

Some things on the custom don't quit line up like the wedges that go on the sides block sections of the Tub and Bridge so had to put different pieces on there, and such it was good practice for overcoming problems on what i want to do.

I finished up and posted pictures. There is another thread about it.

I decided not to go with the Paperlinx system for this ship. I actually built two new Cargo Bays for this ship, and attached them directly to the ship (the other ones I had already built were meant to be independent and had their own door slot). The extra rooms worked out really nicely, I'm really pleased with them.

I do think Paperlinx would work, if you didn't want to say, lift the ship up and fly it.


I may not use this immediately (in fact, I really should be working on the haunted temple that festers beneath Skull Rock), but MAN was it a lot of fun to build. Fitting it out is going to be fun too. I've been puttting together cargo crates (from all kinds of sets - Spaceworks, Seaworks, and even Ambient Elements), and I'm looking forward to beds, chairs, lockers and other fun stuff.

Very cool. I am thinking about picking this one up for Star Wars Minis. I don't play the game as often as DND Minis or DND, but hey, any excuse . . .

I just posted at Privateer Press and Wizards Star Wars boards about WWG. I inserted the pic of the ship in the message and it blew the screen wide. LOL. I hope the admin doesn't disable it. I may have to go back and just do a link to the image. There is one for the site.

I am thinking if I do this model, laying out some cheap black fabric on the table for it to rest on. I will splatter some white dots, maybe some blue and reds to give a nice starfield. Nice way of presenting it in the game.
