I found this site last week and am very impressed with the whole hobby, I play heroclix and was looking to build a Castle 'Doom' for my game and found the CastleWorks set to be perfect for my needs, I also picked up the new exteriorworks as I just love those streams and waterfalls.

Clix often gets played in a urban setting and I love the idea of taking it outside of the city.

Anyway...

I already own a Samsung CLP-300 laser and whilst it isnt the best laser printer it means I dont need to spend out on this new hobby so figured I would make the most of what I had.

The quality if printouts seems great and it copes with the card, however it curls up slightly the printouts, how do you deal with this?

Secondly the castle works set is quite daunting for a first build and I dont really know where to begin with a layout for my clix castle. Can I get away with printing one of each pdf sheet and building from that or do I need to know how many walls etc?

Anyway thanks to everyone who designs these things and posts on the forum as you all really helped me get into this new hobby.

Huhm, no idea about the curling on a laser printer, i am an inkjet person myself. When i get curling it is typically one of two issues, well really one, but from two different sources. For me it's water either in the atmo with humidity or from the ink. When things dry it goes away. If worried (at least i have found) that if you just put a heavy book or something on the page and stack the stuff up under that book it is fine.

You curling may be from a different source, maybe the way the paper goes through the machine... not sure

For me personally i like to have a pretty good idea of what i am building before i start to print. I will tend to spend an hour or so with a pad of graph paper and draw out what i want to layout to be. Once i have the lay out and a list of the bits it will need, i then print. For me it saves time and paper/ink so i don't print out something don't need. I don't own Castle works (classic or Ultimate) so don't know what excatly one of each page would create, however i know that from things like the Maiden, and many other WWG sets there is a BIAT file or other instruction pages that give good suggestions on how many of X and Y pages you need to print to do the "stock" version.

Since you are going for that caslte in Latveria. for me at least i would have a layout in mind of the castle (or section you are using for the game area), look at CW and figure out what parts i needed, then figure otut what pages and numbers it would take to make. But that's me and i really don't like wasteing the paper ( i go to some pretty extreme lenghts to get every scrap of paper used)...

What kind of paper are you using shuttler?

I also use a Samsung CLP 300 now..and yep it does curl the cardstock quite badly...combo of the feed route and the fuser at the end.
Im using pretty generic Georgia Pacific 110 cardstock.
I usually just flatten the curl by rolling it by hand in the other direction...has worked ok for Wormhole and is doing okay for my FL/HWIII build so far.
Any better suggestions?

I use a Brothers inkjet printer. When my prints come out of the printer they are slightly curved up. But its not an issue really, they flatten out just sitting on the table. And I always put my sandwich folded pieces under boards to dry.

Could try steaming it lightly and setting it between two flat surfaces. HUGE pain to say the least, but it may work.
