I was also a little surprised at how dark the grass looked when printed.

But this was extreme. The tile looks dark gray, and its hard to pick out any detail. Nothing at all like the promo build pics.

Your photos look like if I do a print on cardstock vs 250gsm matt photopaper (i realise you've done a photoshop). I've completely switched to matt photopaper now and the colors are much more vibrant, crisp and I find closer to the promo shots (this is in general across the sets I have as I don't have hinterland yet ).

grab some matt photopaper of ebay, I use the cheapest suff i can find there costs me about the same as cardstock per sheet (not inculding the shipping $$).

I'll keep an eye out for it. But I get 150 pgs of cardstock for $5.50, with no shipping. Considering how well the edited version prints I may just stay with that.

Although I have a similar issue with the way the maiden's water prints. There it looks light gray instead of blue. I haven't figured out yet a color tweak that corrects that. Perhaps the matte paper might work for it too.

No printer settings to tweak it? I know on my Canon iP3000 you could change that in the drivers. Had to tweak the color settings a bit so everything matched up with how it looked on screen, but once I had it set, that was it.

I use a Brothers MFC 3360c printer. I've looked a couple times but if there are options to alter the colors I cannot find them.

I'm sure its not something available in all printers. It sure should be though.

I've noticed a drawback with the photo paper. Its incredibly vulnerable to scratching. I inadvertently brushed it with my fingernail and the entire printed surface came off right down to pure white. I hate to think what metal bases would do to it. I don't know if its just the brand I'm using though.

Sirrob have you had a problem with scratches?

Umm.... no. Mine, when I have used Photo paper never really flakes but sometimes it does lift if I am doing folds with it/

IF you use photopaper, a couple of points to consider:
1. most photopaper says leave it alone for 7 days after printing to let the ink set...and keep it out of direct sunlight during that time.

2. I recommend getting an acrylic matte sealer (spraycan) and spraying any high traffic terrain items to protect them. I did this with a gameboard I reproduced for my father and it worked extremely well. (I used Michael's "TRIPLE THICK CLEAR COAT")

I haven't had any problems with printing hinterland on my printer. Great color and all that jazz!! I'm using a Brother HL-4040CN. If in the market for a nice laser, this one is the way to go. When I got it it came with full toners good for 5000+ prints. Here are the pics below

I have been having this issue with Thoumont's. I increased the brightness from 0 (default, middle setting) to 25 (50 is max) and it looks way better. I haven't had this issue in the past, but I also don't have Hinterlands.
