First poster here. I've been watching the forums a bit, and I'm incerdibly intruiged by Worldworks and their products. I do a ton of D&D DMing in the New York City/Northeast-NJ area, and I would love to be able to give my game table such a potent addition as a Worldworks setup for most of my encounters. I've done plenty of GW Wargaming, as well as terrain making, but this is going to be my first foray into cardstock modeling.

So I'm setting out to buy my materials. I have my hobby-knives, my cutting board, and my straight-edge metal ruler. As for card-stock, I was thinking of going for just some Staples-brand 110lb (if this is a disasterous decision, let me know!). But I'm lost in terms of glue. I know I'm looking for low-water content, but I hadn't noticed when I went out shopping any indication on the packets of glue pens as to the water contents of the different varieties. I know that the specific UHU model is recommended, but where in NYC should I look for them?

Also, there's the printer. Now I know that it's probably obnoxious to ask about printers, given how many threads there are, but I have other questions, because I have a few other demands. I'd like a printer that not only prints in great color, but prints well on cardstock and in high printing capacity. I not only want to print tons of Worldworks terrain (I plan on purchasing quite a number of sets), but will also be able to print out sheets of monster counters for my games (cardstock), and also be able to print a number of PDF magazines (such as the ones Wizards of the Coast is realeasing, ie: Dungeon and Dragon), which can run 80 or so pages an issue (standard printing paper). I was looking at because many other users seem to be using PIXMA printers.

I know that these answers could probably be found with more digging around the forums, and I appreciate your indulgence in reading this. Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to offer! I would love to make good use of the product and hopefully get more people in my area using Worldworks terrain to supplement their games.

Any 110 lb cardstock should be fine. There are some minor variations between them as far as glossiness or rigidity but nothing critical. I like the GeorgiaPacific myself, Walmart has it for $5.50 for 150 pg.

80 lb coverstock is supposed to be even stronger. But I've never found it at a store near me.

As far as the UHU glue sticks, the new one is labeled scrapbooking which means more stores should carry it. If there is a Jo-Ann Fabrics near you they carry it. If not check for some other scrapbooking store.

I can't help with the printer though.

The one thing I'd suggest for a printer is get one with a minimum of four seperate print cartridges Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. Don't get a printer that requires a single cartridge with CYM. It gets costly as you may use up all the Magenta with out using up all the Cyan, you then have to toss the cartridge away with ink still in it.

Some of the newer printers have more than four single cartridges. I've seent them with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Green and Black as well.

If you go for an inkjet make sure you check out the avability of a Continuous Ink System for the printer, it cuts the per page cost right down overtime.

I just switched to using double sided matt photopaper (the 250gsm cheap stuff of ebay) and find the quality of the print outs much better (crisper/vibrant) and it's no different to cutting up regular card, I think the slight cost increase is worth the improved quality (have to pay for shipping).

Glue, I'm probably the odd one out on this but I use a mixture of white wood glue (selleys)/superglue gel/contact cement (waterbased and regular depends what I grab) depending on the part being glued. I've found down under with the dry temps in summer most of the glue pens/sticks avaliable here eventually seem to let go or partially let go(very annoying). But this maybe something perculiar to Australia.

Just something to consider when printing online pdf's, print them to A5 size (ok no idea what this is in US approximatly half letter??). I've found for 99% of them you can read them fine and it saves ink/paper, as a plus easy to store .

You'd need to check with the manufacturer of the CISS some it means all in that group others it's a specific model.

But a basic rule of thumb you can use if it's the same carts across a model range the CISS should work, you just may need to get inventive about how you run the tubes. Biggest thing to look for is that the printer will run with the lid (ink maintenance area) open and that theres not to many funky bits of plastic to get the tubes caught around, also self reseting carts ie go full again once they have theretically used 3/4 of there ink.
