Yet again the First Light based terrain made its trip to Plymouth.

Little more work down.
Re-inforcement to tops creating a small ledge, helps also in stacking for transport, but improves rigidity of terrain so should last a good few years.

Terrain peices now with outside black card, used on black cloth, so the inside stands out more than grotty coloured heavy mounting board.

Adjusted all floors to now a offset so whole thing has no half squares (look at first Light t for what I mean right in middle) excepts at joins with other sections, and as these match they become full squares.
Means no need for measuring tape at all. Another effect of this is 6inch rooms with 7inch walls, bit of space for model overhang.. Also allow room to stay within 7inch square which with pure card fine but with sturdier material means to stay within outside dimension meant losing some inside.
System works and is very very modular.

Saturday was a random generated terrain,
Used Dr Who Rules from (free) with stats made up for anything not already present, simple and fun system allowing for inventions and basic combat.
Sunday was a fixed terrain layout.
Random generation of the monsters and numbers of gems with the fire elementals being critical as each fire that got put out became a gem too, but fires got out of control till some clever players asked if there was a fire suppression fitted, I pointed out yes but that it wasn’t working so they got the Doctor to repair it and well was a good game.

Had some ‘downtime’ on Saturday so did some Dalek shots with the terrain including the dark corridor shot.

On some shots you might be able to make out the upper corridor work that I started work but have yet to finish.

Wow, that's a great build. The use of the reinforcement strips on the tops adds a very nice, finished look. I want to borrow that idea when I get around to my FL build. Also, I really like the use of the perspective shots, adds a lot of character. This looks like a very doable project, in that you can make a room or corridor at a sitting, without necessarily having to spend a long time on each component. (I always feel I have to keep working until a project is done) This I could do without making myself nuts.

Did you use foamcore for the strips? How many rooms and corridors and types of rooms and corridors have you made? I would love to see a tutorial article about this project if you ever get the time.

Perspective shots, well I just put camera down and click..

Althogh based on First Light and Retrofit its modifed that much its almost a mega bash, such that what you dont see is the double size rooms still based on 7"x7" (idea is 2 halves go together giving many different combinations of door postions for a double sized room)

I just tak a box of the componants and just build whats wanted.

For a game at the club I go to they wanted a 12 player kill team (40k) game and I provided a 5ft x 12ft terrain, although many rooms had the walls missing..

Not foamcore, I use what is called here in Uk 'Imperial Grey Mounting Board'
Its a heavy condensed pulpboard about 2.5mm thick

I think I have 14 rooms built with floors printed for another 50...
Corridors about 16, T's Junction 4, X Junction 4 and corners 6, and 3 entrances (custom built).

Got another 10+ of each corridor section in various stages of construction, some still on card waiting for cutout, some on base mount, some with wall mount, some with end brace..

Lots of work, plenty to keep me going especially since I game so many different types (about to start work on 28mm Napoloenoic style warship designs based on Maiden construction principals)

I may build a tutorial at some point for modular space station terrain, time of course is the issue
