I saw a lot of tips on glue and other things, but I am a noob and have a question on the best paper to use. I went to Staples and bought 110lb white cardstcok, and tried it out. Not bad, but the ground especially in the Hilltop encounter set I bought was a bit dark, and nowhere near as nice as it looks on the screen. So, for kicks I had some HP photo paper laying around and tried it out--WOW it looks amazing! SO, any ideas on this out there? Is there a photo-paper like cardstock or anything like that? What are you guys using? I am new, and I don't game...I just love the models and can't wait to make some.

Quick question - did you change your printer setting to the cardstock?


Yes there is cardstock out there that has been coated... you just have to look (I am in Australia so I am useless to you for that).

As Lord Abaddon said - you may be able to adjust your printer settings for the paper.

And the coated paper that I have seen is typically called Cover Stock - intended to go on the outside of reports, pamphlets, etc.. While I have used cover stock, for, well, covers, I have not used it for terrain.

At the end of the day it really depends on your printers output. I've had inkjets that do just stellar prints on standard cardstock. Actually, there's no greater proof of that then by looking at our promo shots of various modelsets. Those are all printed from inkjets on standard cardstock.

That said, you'll never get the color clarity and contrast definition of glossy photopaper UNLESS you switch to a Laserprinter. I moved to Laser last year and...well...I'll never go back If you can afford one I highly recommend making the move. They've come down quite a bit over the last 8 months or so.

Ah, so that's the secret! I have actually been thinking about a laser printer anyway. Mind if I ask what kind you have Denny, and any other opinions? The other thing I really want is a Craftrobo - I just think it is damn cool. A shame WWG stuff isnt set up for it, but I still want one.
