Are you chaps painted? How is the game in general. At the moment I am lookking at either getting Last Night on Earth or Doom.

I've read reviews that Descent is an updated version of Doom. Any accuracy to that?

Well my figures are getting painted (slowly) at the moment and I would post pics but I still haven't worked out how to make my pics small enough to fit into the gallery.

Anyway on the Last Night on Earth/Doom choice:

Doom is a fast action based, roll dice (special doom dice), move miniatures game, which is supposedly meant to be very difficult for the marine players (which I have never seen while playing either side). The real only downside to it is that FFG no longer really support it and the forums (as I see it) are on the cusp of dying. Great Minis, Great Game, Good Scenarios (The 1st and only official online scenario is one of the best), and a fantastic expansion.
What made this game for me is that I am a complete Doom 3 nut
The theme grabbed me hands down, although the gameplay on PC was lacking ...... It fluctuated but still.
The board game is very thematic like the Computer game and this really is the icing on the cake.

A must for the marine players is teamwork...

Unfortunately I cannot help with Last night on earth.

In my advice get both (Last Night looks sweet and my girlfriend loves Zombie games WIN-WIN).

Descent and Doom are based on the same overall base of rules e.g. D20

Descent Is a fantasy version of Doom basically with extras added on.
List:

Monsters scale in toughness depending no/players (Monsters are always the same in doom, but are limited to a no. of each type per marine player)

Random Treasure Cards (Players in doom pick up specific tokens/weapons directly off the map)

Many different heroes to choose (in doom you get a no. of marine cards that provide permanent abilities)

Threat, which the Overlord (baddy) uses to pay for cards in his hand. You get one per hero per turn. (In doom you could play any card in your hand as long as it was the correct time to play it, with the restriction of one spawn card per turn)

Many more scenarios as well as 3 expansions and a Campaign expansion.

So Much support for Descent (forums are alive)

And in general much more stuff (terrain, abilities, monsters)


Descent:
Pros: Lots of stuff, Support, Scenarios, More abilities/monsters, Fantasy based (but not an RPG as many would say, although the campaign expansion does kinda give room for this depending on players, but even then its minimalistic), Campaign Expansion.

Cons: Lots of Stuff, Generally long playing time (2+ hrs)


Doom:
Pros: Sci-Fi doom theme, Quicker to play in general than descent, Tibs awesome fan made campaign! Awesome expansion.

Cons: Not as much room for player custimisation. Small range of weapons (compared to descent). Lack of support.

So I would say descent is doom with more stuff, not updated, different.
