CLASH OF STELLAR EMPIRES

With the release of the first full race expansion to the Wormhole game setting, we bring two entirely different races into conflict with one another. The Verus Republic, a vast and sprawling nation with many different worlds, races and cultures has a long history of conflict. External foes both many and varied have assailed and been assaulted by the Republic, and internal conflicts with the Nomad Cotaries and various Pirate fleets have kept the legions hard at work.

Nothing quite compares, though, to the sudden appearance of the displaced Sathrican Empire appearing on and within their borders, making claim to larger portions of their space in a bid to reestablish themselves. Petty differences will need to be set aside, and less pressing matters put on hold, while this new and grave threat is dealt with.

So far these look like they could be much more 3D than some of the others? Is this the case?

The basic capital ships have around as many parts as the original Sathrican equivalents. However for those who like detail there will be a lot more optional components that add eye candy to the larger ships. The frigate will also have a simple and advanced version of the model.

Ships look spectacular. What class/type of ships are we seeing here? can I expect to see battleships, dreadnoughts, corsairs, prox. mines? Also, I see the two new race insignia; will there be new Sathrican units to expand my already ridiculous fleets? I ask because I plan to try some kitbashing/rule hacking for building some space stations and other things; If any of those items are on the way, I'll look forward to the official release rather than sweating the hack w/o decent playtesters to make sure my hacks work.

Great looking ship and texture set.

Looking forward to building it simply to show on a stand.

just one word: Sulaco

I always enjoyed the militaristic design of the Sulaco and I kind of wished it was shown in action rather than just sitting in orbit for the whole movie. I took the basis of the Sulaco (basically a flying gun) and used it as a base inspiration for many of the designs. The battleship and the cruiser have the most resemblance to the Sulaco where as the strike craft and carrier will look more akin to the ships in Homeworld.

Yay - on the front page

I'm kind of curious, thinking about it, as to what's the process involved in getting something like this done? Looking at the names involved in the Production, are many of them involved in creating TLX stuff (which is obviously getting priority at the moment)? Or is this currently sitting in playtesting or art design etc? I've been slowly working on creating my WH fleets over the last week or two and I'm *loving* the look of what I have but some more ship designs would be hugely appreciated. I guess I'm curious what stage of the development process this is at (beyond the 10% listed on the front page ).

I will ask about posting some more concept art. At this point I wouldn't be able to wager a guess percent wise since I am still a newbie at WWG. That said, I do have a lot of art related materials finished or nearing completion.

I cant wait untill this expansion is released. One thing I am wondering about is will these new ships have too many small details to be scaled down to some of our halve scale fleets (mine is printed 4 pages per page, many other's are 2 per page).

Also, is there any way I can help out like test building or play testing? Sometimes getting a product out faster is done by just throwing more personnel to the problem.

The one optional accessory that you probably couldn't build at half scale would be the turret (It is pretty small even at full scale). However there is a 2D turret painted on the hull anyways so it shouldn't matter too much. The only ship you might have trouble building at half scale would be the frigate, but there is a simplified version of the frigate that could probably be built at half scale without too much fuss (the advance frigate has much more complex geometry which is why were are going to offer a simple version as an alternative).

Good thing you planned ahead like that (or good that it was a coincidence) but I will take a look once it is released and make my judgment to see if I can pull it off at making them that small, I have worked some miracles in the past If all else fails I can print it on tissue paper and use tweezers and a microscope to build it LOL. But it is good that you did make a simpler version of the frigate.

So how many different types of ships are included in this expansion?

Looking at that I have to say I like it.
Looks like it could be a few box folds glued together, in a line with a few bits stuck on. That is a ship I would buy because its still easy to build (box folds are easy as punch) but it still gives it depth and me like.

Is this release going to come with GSD?

I hope so. Hopefully one of the beta testers or other devs will be able to fix these files up for machine cutting. I can't at the moment because I don't have a robo cutter!

You don't need a machine to prep the cutting file, although it's useful for checking your work.

Just noticed that this has jumped to 50% on the status meter on the front page - makes me very happy!

I hereby volunteer to make the GSD files for the set! I'm working on some things for OneMonk in my sparetime too, so it's time WWG got some love. ;-D
